Welcome from the Head Teacher
Welcome to the Edron Academy page of our recruitment partners website. I hope that the information provided here will entice you into completing an application form and that you will come and join the wonderful Edron community.
I am very proud to be the Headteacher of the first school in Mexico, and the second in Latin America, to be fully accredited members of COBIS, Council of British International Schools. We were invited to accept this level of membership following a successful inspection by the UK´s Independent School´s Inspectorate (ISA) in September 2014. The inspection report has given us a blueprint for development in the coming years and we are looking for outstanding teachers to join us to help fulfill the goals and vision we have for the continued development of Edron.
Edron is one of the leading schools in Mexico and serves a largely local community base. Our community spirit is one of our greatest strengths and colleagues who come to join us are always impressed with the level of respect afforded to them by the students. Our parent body is supportive and work with us to ensure that all of our students receive not only a world-class education, but also develop a strong sense of responsibility for others and an international outlook.
At Edron we strive to ensure that our staff enjoy a positive work/life balance. All teaching staff have around twenty percent non-contact time each week, so that the amount of work that needs to be done outside of work hours is significantly reduced. This means that people can enjoy the many varied and wonderful things that our great city has to offer, from music to sport, food to festivals, Mexico City has it all. Add to that the Pacific Ocean a one hour flight in one direction and the Caribbean a two hour flight in the other and you will understand why one new teacher recently exclaimed to me, ´I never imagined I would travel and see so much in three months!´
To conclude, I would like to reiterate what a wonderful country Mexico is. The people are friendly and the culture is vibrant and inclusive. Unlike many overseas opportunities, Mexico really does offer the opportunity to become part of its rich tapestry, whether you have a few words of Spanish or are fully fluent, you will be invited into the homes and hearts of its society.
I very much look forward to reviewing your application and, perhaps, welcoming you to Mexico in the not too distant future.
Eamonn Mullally B.Ed (Hons) Cantab, MA
