Hello and welcome to the TIC Blog! This week we're focusing on Kazakhstan and the Harlem Shake is spreading!

Kazakhstan Calling!

We are pleased to announce that we are continuing our successful relationship with the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools for a second year. Based in Kazakhstan, the schools are currently leading nationwide education reform that sees skilled and experienced English-speaking teachers working alongside local teachers to create mentor them in a more skilled-based approach to learning. Eleven Nazarbayex Intellectual Schools have already been opened, with ten more soon to follow, meaning there are an incredible variety of positions available for teachers. The contracts in Kazakhstan are for one year with possible extensions, giving teachers flexibility and the reassurance you need when moving to such a unique location.

TIC has already placed many teachers in Kazakhstan. Here are a few messages we've received back:

"The atmosphere, attitudes and enthusiasm of all the staff and children is great. It makes you happy to come to school everyday, knowing that the children want to learn" - Sheriff Alagba, originally from Nigeria

"The staff are eager to collaborate in the content and methodology areas and are constantly seeking to learn some aspect of English from the international teacher or teach us some phrase in Kazakh or Russian" - Colin Dey from Guyana

"I was surprised by how friendly and kind the people are here; it really helps make the transition to living here easier" - Corey Johnson from the USA

If you would like more information about the opportunities available in Kazakhstan, then visit our NIS page! It contains details on the schools, contracts and vacancies. Also keep an eye out for our next newsletter, which will be focused on Kazakhstan. It will include interviews with teachers, advice from expatriates and even some guides to the Kazakh capital, Astana. Don't forget our April newsletter on Qatar is still available too.

Being out-Harlem Shaked!

Our TIC office was pretty proud of our Harlem Shake attempt for Comic Relief...that was until we got an email from TIC teacher Fiona Shaw!

Fiona is a primary teacher based in Soderkulla, Sweden. She sent us an email last week claiming that she could top our Harlem Shake video and we have to agree she could! Fiona managed to get her entire Year 4 class Harlem Shaking and putting us to shame! If you would like to see for yourself, right click the link below and select "Save link as..." to download. Don't forget our video is still available to view and have laugh at, on YouTube.
